Global ECU Remap leader Superchips has introduced a conversion for the latest addition to the Ford range, the Euro6-compliant variant of the Focus ST TDCi.

Building on Ford’s reputation for producing diesel-powered sports saloons, the diesel Focus ST uses a 185PS two-litre engine from the factory, on Delphi management. However, the Superchips remap adds a useful 39bhp at 4160rpm and a healthy 90Nm torque at 1865rpm, right where it is needed.

Ford Focus ST TDCi

The result is a huge hike in both the torque and power curves as well as massive improvements in driveability and low to mid-range pulling power. This will make the car easier as well as more fun to drive, with more relaxed cruising and greater performance for overtaking.

The full power and torque curves can be seen here:

http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/FocusST20TDCI.pdf

In addition to the additional performance, drivers can expect to see up to 7% improvement in fuel consumption, compared with a similar, pre-conversion driving style.

The conversion can be applied either by one of Superchips’ nationwide dealer network or by the owner themselves, using Superchips’ market-leading Bluefin device. The cost of the conversion carried out by a dealer is £365 including labour and VAT.

The remap can also be performed by the owner themselves, using Superchips’ Bluefin device.

With a Bluefin, users don’t need any mechanical or technical skills, it’s quickly and easily installed from the comfort of the driving seat. Simply plug the Bluefin handset into the diagnostic port (connecting to the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit) and the Bluefin then uploads new settings to enhance the vehicle’s performance. The cost of the Bluefin remap is £399 including VAT.

The conversion is covered by Superchips’ industry-leading 12-month/30,000-mile warranty*.

The result is a car with greatly-improved acceleration but combined with superior driveability, thanks to the gains in torque low down in the rev range.

The conversion is carried out by one of Superchips nationwide dealer network and typically takes less than an hour, since the process is now carried out using the vehicle’s OBDII (On Board Diagnostics) port. Customers can either wait at the dealer or drop off their car and return later to collect.

The cost of the remap is £365 including VAT and labour and is covered by Superchips’ industry-leading 12-month/30,000-mile warranty.*

The power and torque curves follow the originals perfectly but shifted significantly higher to reflect the improvements in both values. The remapped torque curve also shows a flattening of an inherent dip in the trace on the original engine, maintaining peak torque for longer.

In fact, the remapped engine shows greater torque than the original peak value virtually throughout the entire speed range.

In addition to the gains in performance and driveability this offers the large Audi models, drivers can also expect to see improvements of up to 7% in fuel economy, when compared with a similar pre-conversion driving style. Further, the electronic speed limiter can be removed for cars destined for motorsport use.

The conversion can be carried out by owner themselves, using Superchips’ Bluefin device, at a cost of £416* including VAT.

With a Bluefin, users don’t need any mechanical or technical skills, simply plug the Bluefin handset into the diagnostic port (connecting to the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit) and follow the on-screen instructions.

Alternatively, it can be performed by one of Superchips’ highly skilled nationwide dealers, at a cost of £399 including labour and VAT.

The conversion is covered by Superchips’ market-leading 12-month/30,000-mile warranty.**

The delivery with the remap mirrors that of the original engine but with significantly greater values for both power and torque. Not only will this make the car more rewarding to drive, with improved acceleration but also, easier to drive in day-to-day conditions, thanks to the additional torque.

The conversion uses Superchips’ EPC device which, when fitted to the vehicle, optimises engine fuel, ignition and turbo boost settings.

The device can be fitted by the owner and is supplied by the necessary wiring harness and full-colour instructions. Alternatively, it can be fitted by one of Superchips’ nationwide dealers and the price of both the DIY and dealer-fit conversion is £449, including labour and VAT.

The conversion is covered by Superchips’ no-quibble seven-day money back guarantee and the device itself is also covered by Superchips’ product warranty*.

Not only does power and torque increase significantly, the way in which they are delivered also improves. The torque curve, for example, is flatter and the Superchips conversion eliminates a large dip in the curve as the engine approaches the mid-range.

In addition to the improvements in performance, drivers can also expect to see gains of up to 7% in fuel economy with the remap, compared with a similar pre-conversion driving style.

The conversion can be carried out by owner themselves, using Superchips’ Bluefin device, at a cost of £399 including VAT.

Following the release of its remap for the Vauxhall Vivaro/Renault Trafic 1.6CDTi/dCi 120PS models in February, world ECU remap leader Superchips has now introduced a conversion for the more powerful cousin, using the 140PS version of the same engine.

Vivari SIZED

Running on Bosch management, the bi-turbo diesel engine leaves the factory with 140PS but the Superchips remap adds significantly to both power and torque. Power increases by 21bhp at 4075rpm while torque – arguably more beneficial for a light commercial vehicle – grows by an even more impressive 42Nm at 2057rpm.

The full power and torque curves can be seen by clicking the link:

http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/Trafic16dCi140PS.pdf

The position of this huge increase in torque, at the lower to middle of the engine’s rev range, is exactly where drivers will notice it most, adding significantly to the vehicle’s pulling power. In addition, the added output from the engine mirrors the original power and torque curves perfectly, meaning the on-road characteristics of the power delivery remain unchanged – only with much greater amounts.

In addition, drivers and operators can expect to see gains in fuel economy of up to 7% – a huge benefit for the light commercial fleet, providing potential cost reductions when driven in a comparable manner.

The conversion can be carried out by owner themselves, using Superchips’ Bluefin device, at a cost of £359 including VAT.

With a Bluefin, users don’t need any mechanical or technical skills, simply plug the Bluefin handset into the diagnostic port (connecting to the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit) and follow the on-screen instructions.

Alternatively, it can be performed by one of Superchips’ highly skilled nationwide dealers, at a cost of £320 including labour and VAT. The remap is covered by Superchips’ industry-leading 12-month/30,000-mile warranty.*
